For Chevrolet, the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV is a game-changer. Chevrolet has been placing much of their focus on EV vehicles since 2021. The Silverado EV is expected to debut as a 2024 model and go on sale to the public somewhere in late 2023. Chevrolet’s new pride and joy is modern and smart, with sleek aerodynamic features, and it’s promised to be more agile than its EV rivals. According to Chev, this truck will be breaking boundaries in all segments. So far, with what we’ve seen, we agree.
Ground-Breaking Technology
The 2023 Chevy Silverado EV was designed and detailed from the beginning with Ultrium. Ultrium is a pioneering electric vehicle battery motor and architecture design developed by General Motors. The Ultrium battery design contains a receptacle lithium-ion cell that’s 54.42cm by 10.16cm by one cm in size. It weighs approximately three pounds. It has a maximum energy capacity of 0.37kWh. Each Ultrium battery pack has a capacity of 50 kWh to 200kWh. This power enables a driving range of up to 724.2km.
All Silverado EVs will have Ultify technology. This advanced intelligent software will keep the vehicle connected, and the intelligent software will enable the EV truck to remain functioning at high-performance levels by enabling over-the-air updates. New downloadable applications can be downloaded to personalize the vehicle to update driver preferences.
Performance
The Silverado EV will have Level one, Level two, and Level three charging capabilities. You’ll be able to charge the vehicle through a standard 120V household outlet (Level one), a 240V household appliance outlet (Level two), or through fast DC charging (Level three). DC charging will only take 10 minutes to charge the vehicle’s battery packs to full capacity.
The EV engine of the Silverado will have brain-searing power. You can expect over 660 horsepower and a maximum torque capacity of 780 lb-ft. The truck will be able to zip from zero to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Safety Features
The 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will come with standard safety features, including automatic emergency braking, front braking pedestrian assist, lane-keep and lane-departure assist, a forward-collision warning system, an IntelliBeam driver assistance system, and a system that indicates the correct following distance. The IntelliBeam assist system has a sensor to detect traffic and senses when it’s dark and will activate the high beam assist technology.
Cargo Space
You’ll be able to fit cargo up to 2.7m in length on the truck bed. 60/40 flip and fold seats enable more space for longer items when passengers aren’t occupying the rear seats. Chevy’s signature Multi-Flex Pass-Through enables you to fit even longer cargo. You’ll be able to transport cargo up to 3m. Even the standard bed has enough space up to 1.8m.
